Pecutus: Travel currency wallet App

Date Jan - March 2018

Role UI Designer

UI Tools Balsamiq | Photoshop | Sketch

In January 2018 I have assisted a startup company to develop their new application’s user interface for their new travel currency wallet application called Pecutus: Each user would be able to unload their left over foreign currency changes into a kiosk, and able to exchange them with other users in a P2P fashion. Allowing travellers to help each other out and uniting the travelling communities together.

Objective

Pecutus is establishing a travel finance ecosystem for the millennials. We deeply understand the tech-driven travel lifestyle amongst our peers, hence we are developing a new generation of unmanned stations, supported by our patent- pending automated technologies to disrupt the Travel Finance Management industry.

In order to utilise these technology, we must create an intuitive, easy to use interface for the users. Since this is the first deliverable of the system, the interface should basic functionality such as fill account, create currency orders, navigate the closest/fastest kiosk and requesting withdrawal of currency at selected location.

First Iteration

The first prototype iteration was created with Balsamiq Mockup tool, the structure and layout was designed following to the client's initial vision and feedbacks from the first few user tests.

High Fidelity prototype

The second prototype iteration was created with Sketch, after listening the feedback from the client, as well as followed by more user testing, I have created this prototype.

Takeaway lessons

With the second prototype iteration, the user had several comments on the prototype design as well as the user experience, as the first design project after graduation, this have really provided me with opportunity to interact with the user as well as obtaining the neccessary experience to move forward as an UX/UI Designer.

User have commented that while the concept of a scrolling wheel menu is unique, it would benefit more being a simple list view with additional information shown on the page as it would take several interations to get to their desired page.

Some of the color choice were confusing and it does not inform of its purpose and significance to the user properly.

There were several instance within the interaction experience that controls were not indicated and the user would have to figure out the controls themselves, hence making some interactions invisible to the user until additional hints was given.

Current Product

With the initial design as the basis, Pecutus’ current design team have further iterated the design into a more simplistic, and accessible travel currency exchange application, which is available now on both Apple AppStore and Google Play.
